1st NHL female coach in history is coaching tonight
As the Seattle Kraken go on the ice tonight, there will be a historic event taking place on the ice, as the Kraken will not have the usual bench boss behind them, tonight.
The Krakens extended a special invitation to the Assistant Coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Jessica Campbell, as she will be joining the coaching staff for the upcoming battle against the Calgary Flames.
#SeaKraken will welcome @Firebirds assistant coach, Jessica Campbell behind the bench tonight at @ClimateArena for the matchup against Calgary.
She is believed to be the first woman to coach an NHL game.
Campbell will serve as the first woman in the NHL who will be serving as an NHL coach during a pre-season game. While women have previously served in various roles within the NHL, such as in training positions, Campbell will be the first woman to hold that role.
Having reached this monumental milestone tonight, Jessica Campbell deserves our congratulations.
As a result of her success with the Coachella Valley Firebirds last season, the stage was set for this to happen.
