During a Junior B hockey game on New Year's Eve, there was a line brawl between the Beaver Valley Nitehawks and the Nelson Leafs.

Tensions were rising in the first period, and as soon as the puck dropped to start the second period the gloves flew off and fists started to fly.

I love this because they have the traditional caged helmets that are strapped on pretty well. So, these kids were fighting with their helmets on and some even kept their gloves on.

Probably in their best interest considering they are punching the helmet. There were 17 penalties handed out and the league later announced that there was a total of 35 games handed out in suspensions.

Thanks to Blades of Steel, we now know the following details:

Nelson Leafs - Marko Pavlovic suspended for 3 games for participating in a staged fight.

Nelson Leafs - Tyler Seminoff, Leighton Partington, Hunter Sperle and Ryland Mennie suspended for a total of 8 games each; 3 games for participating in a staged fight and 5 games for instigating multiple fights on the same stoppage.

Beaver Valley Nitehawks - Gavin Tritt, Boris Hristov, Spencer Dixon-Reusz and Kaleb Percival suspended 2 games each for participating in multiple fights on the same stoppage.

Nelson Leafs Head Coach - Adam DiBella has been suspended indefinitely pending completion of an investigation by the KIJHL into his actions during the game in question.- KIJHL
