BREAKING: Insider Reveals How Much The Salary Cap Will Be Rising Next Season
Amid swirling rumors about the next season's salary cap, it was recently revealed that the NHL will only increase the cap by $1 million.
The projected 2023-24 salary cap ceiling is set at $83.5 million, indicating no further negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA. The players are open to a higher cap but won't adjust their escrow payments.
With NHL free agency on the horizon, it's believed the 2023-24 salary cap ceiling will be set at $83.5M -- an indication the NHL and NHLPA won't negotiate a higher increase than the $1M called for in their MOU.
The cap has been frozen due to COVID-19, and players have been repaying over a billion dollars in escrow, expected to be paid back by the end of next season.
