When Eugene Melnyk passed away, the team was passed on down to his daughters and the question sparked as to whether or not they would opt to keep the team or decide to sell it and move on to other ventures.
Well it seems there may be some clarity on that front, as the Senators organization is officially for sale according to Instagram account NHL feeds.
The value or price to purchase the club is an estimated $655 million.
In comparison to the other six Canadian NHL teams, the Senators are worth the least, with the Leafs and Canadiens leading the way North of the border - at $2.1 and $1.7 billion resepctively.
With the Senators stocked prospect pool and solid current brigade, it looks as though who ever purchases the team will be investing in a team primed for playoff success going forward.
