BREAKING: The punishment received by a WJC scandal member has been doubled over the punishment received by others
There has been a major announcement regarding the punishment of one of the members of the WJC 2018 team.
This player, in particular, may be facing multiple accusations.
According to reports, Michael McLeod is facing two charges in connection with the 2018 World Junior Championships scandal.
There are also charges against the other four players, but McLeod will now have an additional charge.
In legal terms, it is called "Party To The Offense".
New: Court documents obtained by @TSN_Sports and @CTVNationalNews confirm Dillon Dube, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote have all been charged with s***** a******.
"Dillon Dube on or about the 19th day of June in the year 2018 at the City of London in the Southwest Region did commit a s***** a****** on E.M., contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada."
The document repeats the same allegation against each of the other four players and says McLeod is also facing an additional charge of s***** a****** for "being a party to the offence."
All of the players have said they will plead not guilty and the allegations against them have not been tested in court.
The players were arrested on Jan. 26 and their next appearance date is Feb. 5, according to the documents.
The charge refers to McLeod being present while the other four players committed the crime.
Furthermore, he could have simply been present and not acted, without being directly involved in the acts.
At this point, we do not know what McLeod is officially being charged with, or what this means for his future trial.
In a press conference on February 5th, the London Police will answer more questions.
We should have an update on charges and accusations by then, as the story continues to develop.
