Many fans across the league, along with general managers and pundits in the media, firmly believe that Conor Bedard is a virtual lock to become a member of the Blackhawks from game one, destined to have an amazing season ahead of him. This budding phenom has garnered attention from every general manager in the entire league, and the Blackhawks were fortunate to secure him.
Occasionally, some first-overall picks from the first round may rub people the wrong way, causing questions about their personality and character. However, Bedard has remained true to himself and recently demonstrated why he exudes professionalism, earning the admiration of many in the NHL.
In an interview with The Athletic, his parents Melanie and Tom explained that Bedard grew up with the expected pressure of becoming an NHL star, given his undeniable talent that has caught the attention of everyone.
When asked how he felt about facing his idol Sidney Crosby in game one, Bedard humbly stated, "I still have to make the team." Although those words surprised his parents and the interviewer, they showcase Bedard's determination and drive to succeed, solidifying his position as the future face of the NHL in the coming years.
