Big update regarding Matvei Michkov's status for the draft
Born in Perm, Russia in 2004, Matvei Michkov is a highly anticipated prospect in the upcoming NHL draft.
For a while, he was ranked second only to Connor Bedard, but concerns arose when news came out that he would stay longer in Russia to develop.
Russian prospect Matvei Michkov will reportedly attend the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville.
It remains to be seen how far the potential superstar will drop in the drafthis KHL contract with SKA Saint Petersburg runs through the 2025-2026 season.
This caused his draft ranking to slip, with Adam Fantilli now considered the second pick.
However, for a team that has a longer timeline and more patience, Michkov may be a steal.
Furthermore, despite earlier reports that he would not be present, he is set to attend the NHL Entry Draft in two weeks on the 28th.
With his impressive scouting reports, he is yet another generational talent available in this draft.
