In every aspect, this year promises to be the Connor Bedard show. The attention on this young man has been incredible ever since he was drafted on May 8th, 2023. His standing in the league is already ascending as he transitions from a junior player to an NHL sensation.
While all eyes are on him as he showcases his raw talent and innate abilities, it's important to recognize that there are other promising players on the Blackhawks who are shining in camp.
One of these players is Lukas Reichel, a 21-year-old winger born in Nurnberg, Germany. He was selected in the first round, 17th overall, in the 2020 entry draft and was considered one of the more promising prospects even before Bedard's arrival. During this year's training camp, Reichel has begun to display his skills and talent, and on Day Two, he notably outperformed Bedard.
Reichel and team white dominated Bedard, beating them 6-3
Players like Reichel are exactly what the Blackhawks need to make a return to the playoffs and contend for a Stanley Cup. The son of former European hockey star Martin Reichel, he continues to be a force during scrimmages and has even scored two beautiful goals.
Bedard was NOT happy...
I believe he could be a dark horse for the Blackhawks this season, and if teamed up with the right linemates, he could become a scoring force.
