Tonight, the Blackhawks welcome the Los Angeles Kings to the United Center for their first meeting of the season. The Blackhawks are in the midst of a 4-game skid but managed to snag points against the Sabres and Wild.
The Blackhawks have been playing good hockey, but are slowly starting to show the inability to close games out or get a big goal when needed. They currently sit with a record of 4-4-2 and are in third place in the Western Conference Wild Card standings. Jonathan Toews has had a resurgence this season, with 6 goals and 2 assists in 10 games so far. He will be a player to keep an eye on in this game.
The Kings are currently 6-6-0 through 12 games this season. They are currently first in the Wild Card standings with 12 points, somehow carrying a -4 goal differential.
The Blackhawks will have the advantage on the powerplay as they are ranked 6th in the NHL while the Kings are ranked 19th. Both teams' penalty kill have struggled in recent games, as the Kings are ranked 23rd and the Hawks are ranked 25th.
It should be a fun matchup tonight in Chicago as two old rivals from the Blackhawks Stanley Cup stretch look to reignite the rivalry. Let's take a look at the last time these two teams faced off:
