Mainly due to injuries, the Blackhawks have been switching up their defensive pairings. Many fans have called for the benching of Caleb Jones and want Ian Mitchell to take his spot. Mitchell was called up to fill in on the blue line, but then Isaak Phillips came in.
Phillips has been playing great hockey since getting his shot in the lineup. Phillips has 3 points in 10 games this season and has been gaining confidence in every outing. Phillips is looking like he has a place on this roster, however, Ian Mitchell will be in the lineup tonight instead of Phillips.
While it is nice to have Mitchell in the lineup, Isaak Phillips should not be the one to be taken out of the lineup. Mitchell has 3 points in 11 games for Chicago this season and has looked better as of late prior to his scratching. I personally don't agree with Phillips coming out of the lineup. The Blackhawks are in the race for Bedard, so having two young defenseman in the lineup to prove what they have isn't a bad thing. What's the worst thing that could happen? You increase your chances for Bedard?
