Blackhawks refuse to send their top prospect to team Canada World Juniors
While Kyle Davidson has only been general manager of the Chicago Bulls for a short time, he has done a lot in a short amount of time.
One of his selections will not be representing Canada at this year's World Juniors. Someone this young might consider that an honor, such as Cole Sillinger, whom the Blue Jackets refused to send back to the minors so that he could play in the IIHF tournament.
As he plays his 10th game of the #Blackhawks season tonight, it's clear that Kevin Korchinski will be a full-time, full-season NHL player this year
That includes not being made available to Team Canada for the World Juniors

2022 1st round pick, Kevin Korchinski will consequently have the 1st year of his entry-level contract torched, as he is now a full-time NHLer for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Since he is only 19, Davidson would have to send him to the WHL instead of the AHL if he decided to send him down.
«He had a good training camp and a really impressive start to the season,» Richardson said of the 19-year-old defenseman. «He's composed out there and his skating ability is NHL-elite level already. His decision-making has been very good and he's a bright kid. He takes in a lot of information and implements it into his game. There's no reason to have that conversation at this point. He's earned and deserved that right.»
Korchinski scored 11 goals and 62 assists for 73 points in the WHL last season, and he has played 9 regular season NHL games to date.
Despite the fact that Korchinski's first season is being treated as an evaluation still, the way they're treating him is similar to the way they treated Kirby Dach.
While Korchinski needs to prove himself in the meantime, the Chicago Blackhawks will play the Florida Panthers tonight at 8:00 PM, and Korchinski's ELC will begin afterward.
Welcome to the NHL Kevin.
