The Colorado Avalanche are on top of the hockey world right now having a stellar year from start to finish knocking off the two time defending Stanley cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
However the Avalanche don't want to just be a one and done champion no, they are already thinking repeat.
According to 2022 Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar during an appearance on talk show Tim & friends show Makar would discuss his belief that the Avalanche could repeat as Stanley Cup Champions.
When asked about why he believes Colorado has a chance to repeat, the 23 year-old defenceman had this to say regarding the teams competitiveness:
We have so much of that on our team, especially (Nathan MacKinnon). ... Any time you have competitive guys together, it makes you want to play even better, and that's kind of the way our team rolled. While also giving credit to the Avalanche management made and the moves on trade deadline day last year:
I think for us this year, one of the key things was our trade-deadline acquisitions," he said. "Bringing in (Artturi) Lehkonen, (Andrew) Cogliano, (Josh) Manson, and (Nico) Sturm, just absolutely incredible pieces that, honestly, helped us bring home the championship.
Right now it's hard to bet against Makar being the best defenceman in the entire NHL. Even at his young age Makar had
28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points this past season. He also went on to add 29 points in just 20 playoff games being named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
If Cale Makar believes they are going to repeat I wouldn't bet against them and with alot of the Avalanche stars being still young we could be looking at another dynasty.
