One of the best ways to make an impression is to score a goal or record points in your first game as an NHL star. That will be the goal for Connor Bedard as he is set to become the new face of the Chicago Blackhawks.
It was reported in a recent tweet that Bedard would become the second youngest player in franchise history to record a point in his first NHL game, a record currently held by former Blackhawks star Eddie Olczyk.
As the Blackhawks' fan base and the rest of the NHL await his debut, I expect him to get that point as he will face off against his idol Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. There's quite a bit riding on this young man, and he has handled this rather well with extreme professionalism.
Granted, no one is expecting him to have the same kind of numbers he had when he was with the Regina Pats last year, with the Blackhawks currently in a rebuilding phase.
As we all remember, in 2015, when another Connor showed up in the NHL as the budding superstar-to-be, Connor McDavid played his first year with 45 games, scored 16 goals with 32 assists for 48 points, and had a -1 rating.
No matter the outcome, it's going to be an exciting time for Blackhawks fans and the organization.
