The Blackhawks did not finish last this season. The main reason being Hawks Head Coach Luke Richardson.
Richardson was invited to come on the Blackhawks twitter show, «Behind the Bench.» During the show, he admitted that they «probably won more than they should have.»
This is quite interesting, because he was one of the reasons they kept winning. The team was terrible, no life in them, but he brought out the best in them and simply out coached the other teams. He even mentioned on the night Marian Hossa got his number retired, he ran into Mike Sullivan and he told him, «You should've won that game.»
Chicago finished with a 26-49-7 record, making them the 30th placed team in the league. They currently have a 11.8% chance to land top prospect Connor Bedard, but could've had a 25% chance of winning the first overall pick if they hadn't beaten the Penguins for their second last game.
