The battle of goaltender and player for space in the crease, can at the best of times be chippy and profanity filled.
Once in a while, however, the goalie or player loses their cool, resulting in penalties being dished out. Such is the exact case with Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson.
Gibson lost his cool during a sequence against the Detroit Red Wings, resulting in him cross checking Adam Erne in the back of the head.
The pair jawed back-and-forth, before Gibson cross checked Erne just before the referee blew his whistle.
Gibson received a two-minute minor for elbowing and an additional two-minute minor for roughing, while Erne was assessed a two-minute minor for slashing. The ensuing power play resulted in Red Wings forward David Perron potting a tally on the pp to pull ahead 2-1.
