Former Toronto Maple Leafs number-one goaltending prospect Ian Scott has announced his retirement from the NHL and hockey as a whole at the young age of 23, some have cracked jokes saying ''that's that being in the Leafs organization does to you'', but that is nowhere close to the case and the reasoning behind his retirement is truly saddening.

Ian Scott released the following message on social media:

''No athlete wants to make this kind of post but I have decided to step away from playing hockey. Over the past few years i've been battling injuries and working hard to get back to full playable health but unfortunately I have decided to take a step back & start a new life chapter. I would like to thank @paraidershockey & the city of Prince Albert for all the love and support during my time there. It truly was the best place to play Junior Hockey. The @mapleleafs & @torontomarlies for drafting me & and all the opportunities to chase my dream of
playing pro. I would also like to thank all the teammates, coaches, trainers, my billets in PA & all the lifelong friends I made along the way. Lastly my family, for believing in me, standing by my side through all the ups & downs and being the best support system. I'm excited to see what the future holds!''

Ian Scott was selected 110th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs organization and quickly made his standing in the franchise known after having a record of 38-8-3 (38 wins, 8 losses) at the WHL level with a insane 1.83 goals against average and a leagues best 9.32 save percentage.

We wish the best to Scott on what his future holds.
