After the 2021-22 season, it seemed all but confirmed that Joe Thornton was at the end of his career, or did it? nobody is too sure of what is going on with Jumbo Joe.
Until recently, Thornton's future has been up in the air, for lack of better terms. It's been mostly unclear what was to come. That is until there were sightings of the 24-year NHL veteran.
This would be Thornton's 24th season, which in itself is quite the accomplishment. But, not only would it be his 24th season; he isn't a slouch, and hasn't lost a step. Thornton has the ability to come in and still teach the young kids a thing or two.
The St. Thomas, Ontario., native played his 2021-22 season in Sunrise Florida with the Panthers. Through 34 games, the 6-foot-4 forward scored five goals and five assists for 10 points.
Does Thornton still have some steam, and games in his 43-year-old body? Or has Thornton overdone it, by not retiring yet?
