The hockey world has been criticized lately of various sexual crimes done to others. One of the biggest right now is the investigation of Hockey Canada. This incident alleges that more then half a dozen players from the 2003 World junior team Canada players sexually assaulted a female.

This apparently happened during the 2003 World Junior Hockey Championship Tournament. After Hockey Canada did a lackluster internal investigation they were told by the Canadian Government that they would receive zero funding until a complete and adequate investigation was completed.

The 2003 roster features over a dozen former & current NHLers:

- Carlo Colaiacovo
- Pierre Parenteau
- Brooks Laich
- Ian White
- Scottie Upshall
- Pierre-Marc Bouchard
- Kyle Wellwood
- Joffrey Lupul
- Jay McClement
- Derek Roy
- Brendan Bell
- Gregory Campbell
- Matthew Stajan
- Jordin Tootoo
- Jeff Woywitka
- Steve Eminger
- Marc-Andre Fleury
- Nathan Paetsch
- Alexandre Rouleau
- David LeNeveu
- Daniel Paille
- Boyd Gordon

So far former NHL'er and Team Canada defenceman Carlo Coliacovo who is now a TSN Hockey Analyst released a statement revealing no knowledge of the incident nor participated in it.

Another former NHL'er and forward for Team Canada Jordin Tootoo also made a statement that also claims no knowledge or participation in the alleged incident.

"I don't recall knowing or hearing about the incident in question during or after the tournament," Tootoo wrote on Twitter. "I was shocked when I heard about it in the media and will co-operate fully with any investigation."

"I join the community in calling for a full investigation into disturbing allegations that surfaced involving members of the 2003 Canadian World Junior Hockey Team.

My book chronicles many experiences from the tournament when I was age 19, as well as my journey with alcohol addiction, which started at age 14. If I am being totally honest with myself and you, I don't recall knowing or hearing about the incident in question during or after the tournament. I was shocked when I heard about it in the media and will cooperate fully with any investigation."

In Tootoo's book he wrote after hockey his book includes an excerpt many interpreted as an allusion to the gang rape.

"The other teams had some future stars too, including a seventeen-year old playing from Russia who no one had ever heard of before named Alexander Ovechkin.

But frick, we were just kids back then. The shit that we did...we were in Halifax, we were horny young men and we had every goddamned girl hitting on us. What are you going to do? 'Let's start slaying these broads.' And it wasn't just one-on-one action. A few of the guys would get a couple of girls after the practice and head to one of the rooms. Enough said.

This quote from his book scarily compares to the alleged sexual assault which took place in that same time frame.

We went undefeated through the preliminary round and then beat the Americans 3-2 in the semifinals. The Russians were undefeated as well when we met them in the finals. Of course, Canada versus Russia has been the big hockey rivalry going all the way back to 1972. It felt like the whole country was watching us."

All though very disturbing nothing in this book can be considered incriminating, although it does allude to the type of culture established in that dressing room.

As a father of four daughters myself and as a hockey fan from Canada I hope we get answers to this alleged incident and if it indeed happend those players involved be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
