In an interview with Blackhawks insider Mark Lazerus, Max Domi explained how more excited he is to be in Chicago for Christmas than to be in Columbus.
From Lazerus:
"I'm pretty excited, actually. My whole family's here. I was in Columbus for two years, so I didn't get many visitors. All of a sudden I'm in a nice city, so my whole family wants to come. I don't know if it's me or the city."
- Max Domi
Columbus' fans were insulted by Domi's comments and did not hesitate to defend their city on social media. Given Chicago's season so far, Hawks fans do not have much to be excited about. I am sure they'll take any win, even if it's for their city.
In his career, Domi has played in Arizona, Montreal, Columbus, Carolina, and Chicago. With Arizona and Columbus, Max Domi clearly has not had the best luck with the city he's played in. It's nice to see the former 2013 first-round pick is happy in Chicago.
Lately, Max Domi has been tearing it up in Chicago. So far, he has 21 points in 31 games, including 10 goals. Last season, while playing between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes, Domi only managed 39 points in 72 games. Surprisingly, Max Domi is performing much better on one of the worst teams in the NHL. More play time and less pressure clearly benefit the 27-years old center. The Winnipeg native might be the only positive thing going on with the Hawks this season.
