Old time rivalry returns between Hawks and Wild
Watching the highlights between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota Wild brings back memories of an old rivalry from the 1980s and 90s when the Minnesota North Stars used to play the Hawks in the Norris division.
There was never a dull moment between the two teams and there was always a fight or two which built a fierce rivalry.
Tonight's game showed a renewed sense of that rivalry even though Minnesota carries a new name. During one of the plays in the Chicago end, Connor Murphy gets crosschecked and somehow ends up getting an embellishment penalty.
The Blackhawks in return retaliated against Marcus Foligno another Wild player. At the end of the period, more pushing and shoving led to a few punches thrown by Matt Boldy and Caleb Jones.
With both teams going in different directions, one heading to the playoffs and the other one in a rebuilding phase, there is no doubt that these two teams will continue to build their rivalry and hopefully will meet one another in the playoffs shortly.
