Perry is ready to be the bodyguard for Bedard
Corey Perry has had a successful career in the NHL, and as he enters the latter part of his career, he is focusing more on leadership.
While he still maintains his on-ice presence as a pest, he is also taking on the role of protector in the Chicago Blackhawks system.
Corey Perry on protecting Connor Bedard on the ice:
«This league's not easy. Coming in at 18, he's going to have things he's never seen before, playing against men. That's kind of what's kept me in the league.» As a former Hart Trophy winner, Perry will be tasked with ensuring that Connor Bedard's first year in the league is as protected as possible.
Despite his waning years, Perry has adapted to become a valuable asset to any team that he plays for.
Kyle Davidson recognized this value and signed Perry as an unrestricted free agent for $4 million for a one-year contract.
Perry's accolades include winning the Hart Trophy in 2011, a Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, and putting up an impressive 124 points in 196 playoff games.
