The NHL Network ranked the top 50 prospects in the NHL and of course, with the absolutely great draft the Chicago Blackhawks had, Connor Bedard sits atop
at #1.
However, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Shane Wright's stock has plummeted since he was drafted.
Wright currently sits below Matthew Knies, who had an absolutely incredible playoff run. A troubling aspect of all of this is that he is behind others drafted after him, including Cutter Gauthier and David Jiricek, as well as Matthew Knies and Logan Stankoven, who were drafted in the 2nd round.
He's been shipped around since the Kraken are still learning how to develop the center properly. Wright's been struggling lately.
This season, he split time between four teams: Ontario Hockey League's Windsor Spitfires, American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle Kraken, and U20 Canadian International.
Wright tallied one goal and two points in eight NHL games for the Kraken. Afterward, he scored 6 points in 8 games in the AHL before regressing to 9 points in 24 games in the playoffs.
In the OHL, he posted 37 points in 20 games and would end up ghosting the team, posting 3 points. Despite posting 7 points in international play, he ranked 6th in scoring.
The draft capital of Wright dropped during the draft because he needs to figure out the game quickly in order to course correct.
