What makes you want to watch sports? The competition? The suspense? The skills? The fighting? The team spirit? Can you feel any of those stronger when you're at an event in person versus watching it on tv?
So far this season, the Hawks have ranked 9th out of 23 in household ratings, according to the Nielsen report.
As mentioned, there is a league wide downfall in ratings, and The Athletic did an article about the TNT and ESPN ratings being down 22% from last year, as well. There are clearly multiple issues, and none that appear to have an easy fix.
Even with the extenuating circumstances, it's honestly pretty impressive that the Hawks are holding this Number 9 spot. In a time when the team is publicly in a rebuild, when we all know how being the worst in the league would be helpful, people still tune in to watch them play. That shows true loyalty to the love of the sport and the love of the city, as well as the love of the team.
