The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager made it his mission last summer to rebuild the Chicago Blackhawks, trading away two of his top young guys, Alex DeBrincat in a trade with the Ottawa Senators, and Kirby Dach in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens.
Davidson has since traded away almost every player of value to get as many picks and prospects possible. There's also another word for it and it's called Tanking.
The Blackhawks would have a rough year as expected, finishing 7th in the Central Division. However, now that the NHL regular season has ended the Blackhawks and Gm Davidson would receive some bad news as the Anaheim Ducks would finish dead last and now have the best odds of drafting teenage hockey phenom Connor Bedard.
This was due to the Chicago Blackhawks beating the Pittsburgh Penguins just three days ago, that likely made the difference between Connor Bedard, the rookie sensation, and the chances of Chicago landing him.
Last season the Montreal Canadiens would finish last and would win the NHL Draft Lottery selecting Juraj Slafkovsky first overall.
