Unbelievable Story About Canadiens New Enforcer Arber Xhekaj
A amazing story told regarding the Canadiens new tough guy Arber Xhekaj. Brought to you by Hockey Beast and Arber's old coach.
'Two years ago, Arber Xhekaj was working at Costco. He didn't get drafted into either the OHL or NHL. But last autumn, he got signed on a three-year, two-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens. He was loaned to Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League last season, and he's now fighting for a spot in the Canadiens NHL roster. And he's doing it pretty well
This pre-season, the 21-year-old has been one of the most talked about players in the entire NHL. He's been handing out awesome hits, chirping big stars, and during last night's game against the Ottawa Senators, he came to teammate Kirby Dach's defense after a hit and fought Austin Watson. And it wasn't even his first fight this pre-season...
Xhekaj has been getting praise from teammates, coaches, and even experts. Gord Miller had this to say on TSN690:
"He left a trail of devastation behind him in the OHL last year. I talked to several OHL coaches about (Xhekaj). People were literally terrified of him."
It's still not sure if Xhekaj will start the season in Montreal, in the NHL, or not. But you have to admire the dedication. It's never too late to make a name for yourself! '
