Patrick Kane raises eyebrows towards Blackhawks organization during interview
Former Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane explains to the media why he has chosen to remain with Detroit Red Wings and his reasoning certainly has raised some eyebrows.
He spoke to the media for the first time since he signed his one year extension with the Red Wings and told them that Red Wings broadcaster Ken Daniels was part of the reason for returning.
"Looking back at some of the moments (last season) and some of the calls that Ken Daniels had, I can watch those clips for the rest of my life," said Kane. "The calls he had on some of the goals I scored, those are moments that give you chills. You want to create more of those."
Daniels, worked for the CBC prior to working for the Red Wings an in 1997-98 he began to work with Mickey Redmond. Ever since he has been the voice of the Red Wings and captured many great moments for Red Wings fans and players.
The Blackhawks once had Pat Foley, but he was ended up being pushed out of the organization, a forced retirement due to the Hawks' plans of a 'new young era'.
Kane has had an interesting path since leaving the Blackhawks to head to the New York Rangers to win the Stanley Cup. After that failed, he had hip resurfacing surgery during the summer of 2023 which led him to be out for numerous months in recovery.
Well ahead of schedule, Kane made the announcement he was returning to the NHL to which many teams called his agent to inquire for his services. He ended up deciding to go with the Red Wings as former Blackhawks forward Alex Debrincat was the reason he chose Motor City.
«For me, my heart was set on Detroit and coming back to Detroit I thought the fans really embraced me too,» which he values in context to his many years with division rival Chicago. #LGRW
Having almost put the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup playoffs on game 82 it's clear this was another reason why he chose to stay with the Red Wings.
Time will tell on how the Red Wings will fare next year but it's safe to say they will take another step forward.
