Landon Slaggert, the 2020 third-round pick, plans to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks after a standout season at Notre Dame.
Despite rejecting the Blackhawks last year, Slaggert now sees the organization as the right fit for him.
«I still had some work to be done,» Slaggert said. «I knew that's not how I wanted to go out. It was always a dream of mine to wear the gold helmet, and I didn't want it to leave a bad taste in my mouth.»
The forward, standing at 6 feet and 182 pounds, had a remarkable season at Notre Dame, scoring 16 goals and accumulating 25 points in 26 games.
Slaggert expressed his excitement about joining the Blackhawks, highlighting his comfort with the people who supported him.
"[I'm] definitely hoping to sign with the Hawks. It seems like the right organization for me for a number of reasons. I feel comfortable with all the people who have helped me so far. It also feels like the right opportunity and the right spot. I'm excited to see what's in the cards there."
Blackhawks assistant general manager Mark Eaton considers Slaggert as potentially the most NHL-ready among their forward prospects.
