The Boston Bruins have not cut former Chicago Blackhawks winger, Tyler Johnson from their lineup, or released him from their PTO.

Which means, he won't be reporting to Providence any time soon, and now that they have signed Jeremy Swayman, has his hard work during the preseason paid off?

He held out for so long for a contender, and the Bruins were the only team that we know of that offered him a PTO.

This was after Johnson said he wouldn't return to the Blackhawks and was eager to get back to playoff hockey, "meaningful hockey".

"I'm obviously thankful for being here (Chicago)," he said. "I've met a lot of good people, but it wasn't exactly what I envisioned or wanted."

In 2021 he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, for defenseman Brent Seabrook, and had a 2023 NHL draft pick that came to Chicago with him.

"I'd like to play some meaningful hockey and get back in the playoffs...That's where it's (playoffs) all at," Johnson added. "That's where I've always loved. I've always just wanted to be a part of that, and when you're not, especially the last few years here doing what we're doing, it's been pretty tough."

Now it looks like he'll get his chance, and he has the compliments of Bruins coach Jim Montgomery.

Montgomery complimented his versatility with the Tampa Bay Lightning, as he's won a Cup with the Lightning up and down the lineup.

Johnson has proven postseason play in Tampa Bay, where in 2015-2016 he scored 40 points( 20 G, 20 A) in 43 playoff games.

He was brought into Boston to help create internal competition during training camp and played himself into a roster spot scoring 2 points( 1 G, 1 A) and 2 SOG in 4 games during the preseason.

The last three seasons in Chicago saw him earn $5 Million AAV, in that time frame. There's no idea or confirmation what he'll make in Boston, but it's likely he'll have to take a discount to wear the Black and Gold.
