Nolan Allan was a 1st round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, and he has finally arrived in the NHL.

The Blackhawks prospect just arrived to start his professional career in the AHL, with the Rockford IceHogs last season playing 60 games and posting 17 points( 5 G, 12 A) with 47 PIMs in 2023-2024.

He has survived all of the cuts during training camp and has made the opening night roster for the Blackhawks.

For someone who had a short transition from the minor league to the NHL, that has to feel ecstatic.

Allan has a chance to make the Blackhawks' Opening Night roster as a seventh defenseman. The 21-year-old put up a respectable 17 points in 60 games with AHL Rockford last season, his first year of pro hockey. His game is based on being reliable in his own zone and an effective shutdown defender, which will likely translate to third-pairing usage once he's a full-time NHLer.

It looks like for their projections, CBS Sports is correct, as DailyFaceOff projects him to be a third-pairing defenseman, with new partner Connor Murphy.

However, Allan was asked about his arrival in the NHL and he was nothing short of excited as the culmination of his career has finally taken place.

He has made it to the big leagues, and with only one year of AHL experience under his belt, will he fare better in the NHL than Kevin Korchinski did?

Allan and Korchinski used to be teammates in the WHL, so the circumstances of the promotion and demotion have to be bittersweet for the two.

But Allan has a chance to prove himself to be an NHL defenseman long-term, and help build a winning culture that Korchinski can come back into.

Congratulations to Nolan Allan on winning a spot in the NHL, and we hope he stays for a long-tme in Chicago!
