According to Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal,, he feels that the Oilers will attempt to acquire Hall during the March trade deadline or in the offseason.
Hall Is currently completing a 4-year deal that holds a $6 million cap hit which was signed when he was with the Boston Bruins. The expectation for haul was to bring veteran leadership to the team which holds many young players and he has been a mentor for Blackhawks star Connor Bedard.
The 33 year old was a former first overall pick by the Oilers when he was drafted in 2010 and apart of the pre Connor McDavid era. His career began right away in 2010 with the Oilers where he stayed for six seasons when he was traded to the New Jersey Devils and then spent time with the Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Bruins and now the Blackhawks.
The Oilers are currently rising in the standings as they have found their consistency and have been on a roll recently and adding a player like Hall back into the fold would help their secondary scoring which any team would take especially in a winning window that the Oilers are in right now.
The Oilers do have some assets they could offer the Blackhawks in order to acquire Hall but it would likely not require much except for salary retention and possibly a draft pick or two.
After defeating the Kraken 3-1, the Blackhawks will be on the road for the next three games where they will face the Calgary Flames, Minnesota Wild and the Buffalo Sabres. The flames will be first where the game will take place on December 21st at 4:00 PM Eastern.
