29 Years Ago Today: The Chicago Blackhawks Experienced Heartbreak
The Chicago Blackhawks have a rich history, having been part of the NHL since 1926, with many memorable moments.
One such moment occurred on April 28th, 1994 when they faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs in an Original 6 battle.
On the 28th, the Blackhawks suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against the Maple Leafs in their final game at Chicago Stadium. It was an unfortunate end for the historic home of the Blackhawks, as Jeremy Roenick and his team couldn't prevent the opponent's one-goal lead before departing for the United Center, which they share with the Chicago Bulls.
As Roenick left the stadium, he took a moment to acknowledge the crowd. Roenick was known for his loud and brash style of play, but he always had a deep love for the game.
