A Late Night Trade Took Place in The NHL Yesterday
The NHL roster freeze is set to come into play in just three days, it prevents any players on NHL active rosters or injured reserve from being traded, waived or loaned from midnight (local time) Dec. 19 until midnight (local time) on Dec. 27. There are a couple of exceptions to this rule, but teams are looking to get last minute moves into play...
The Dallas Stars acted on that matter, and traded defensemen Joseph Cecconi to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Oskari Laaksonen.
Laaksonen has a lot of promise to his game, being drafted 89th overall in the 2017 NHL draft and he has developed into a 6-foot-2 185lb defender.
Cecconi on the other hand was the Stars 133rd overall pick back in 2015 and has yet to pan out.
This is solely an AHL minor league transaction, but both sides are in hopes for a change of scenery to spark each players' game.
