Connor McDavid Calls Out NHL Officials After Brutal Penalty Call
The NHL called Rogers Place Scorebox and informed them that there may have been an offside on the play after the Edmonton Oilers scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues and Oilers have alreadyskated off the ice and figured the game was over.
Take a look below and even compare McDavid's "offside" goal to Cale Makar's last year, which was determined to be ON SIDE and a good goal. The video review result showed that it was offside, meaning NO GOAL, but this exact same play was a good goal for the Colorado Avalanche in the playoffs last year.
According to the official NHL rulebook, a goal is valid as long as the player retains possession of the puck. The NHL ruled that Connor McDavid, the best player in the world, did not hold the puck.
McDavid disagreed with the decision, and it's hard to blame himthe call is absurd, and the refs frequently favoured the St. Louis Blues.
The post-game interview with McDavid is below.
Connor, say it loudly for the crowd in the back! To effect change, they might need the best player in the world to step up and say something, McDavid sure did that.
