Even though it was necessary, it was still sad to watch him leave the Blackhawks and join the New York Rangers as he pursued a fourth Stanley Cup for his trophy case. Unfortunately for him, that did not happen as the Rangers did not advance far in the playoffs last year.
After the season, he decided to have his hip repaired, and it appears that he is well ahead of schedule for recovery time. Now, the news is beginning to circulate that other teams are considering him as a potential signing in the next few months.
One team in particular, who were the Blackhawks' rivals for many years before moving to the Eastern Conference, is the Detroit Red Wings. John Dietz of the Daily Herald spoke about the idea that Kane wants to play for Detroit after they signed Alex DeBrincat to a long-term deal.
Having both of those players with the Red Wings would certainly strengthen their offence and aid Detroit's goal of making the playoffs this year.
It's also possible that many other teams will be inquiring about his availability and the cost of bringing him on board. One thing is for certain: I believe seeing Kane in a Detroit Red Wings uniform would make many Blackhawks fans uncomfortable."
