During the summer, there have been a couple of small camps, and players have been spotted as they try to keep themselves in shape and enjoy some time for themselves and their families. But now they need to get back to business as they filter back into the arenas and the gyms and begin the process all over again for another NHL season.
One such camp being held in September is the Tom Kurvers showcase. The late Kurvers was an American professional hockey player from Minneapolis, MN, who played from 1984 through 1996 and was the 145th choice overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981.
He played for seven NHL organizations but will always be remembered for the famous trade when he was sent to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the New Jersey Devils for the first-round draft pick, which happened to be Scott Niedermayer.
The showcase will be held in Minneapolis, where the Chicago Blackhawks will send a number of their prospects to play in several games and hold practices to show off what the Blackhawks have built so far.
The showcase will stretch from September 15th through September 17th. The Blackhawks will be playing the Saint Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild during this time. The Blackhawks have decided to send prized first-overall pick Connor Bedard, along with Oliver Moore, Frank Nazar, Aidan Thompson, Dominic Moore, Sam Rinzel, and Ryan Greene.
As for who will be behind the bench, it will be the Rockford IceHogs head coach, Anders Sorensen.
