Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane did not play yesterday against the Arizona Coyotes due to a lower-body injury. This is his first injury-related absence since February 2015, when he was out due to a broken collarbone. The American winger participated in Friday's morning skate, so it was a bit of a surprise that he missed the game against the Coyotes.

"To be honest with you, I probably could play but it's just certain situations it's kind of lingering pain. It is what it is right now, but I think I should be through it here quick enough", said Patrick Kane to hawks insider Charlie Roumeliotis.

Kane suffered the injury in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He left the game after the second period and did not return. All indications are that Kane suffered his injury in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. He was hit by Sharks forward Evgeny Svechnikov.

"I think he mentioned he probably shouldn't have played last game," Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson said. "He thought he could make it through, and he doesn't want to put the team in that position again. It was trying to pull nails out of an old log. He just didn't want to say he couldn't go, but that's an athlete in him."

Per Charlie Roumeliotis. Kane has missed five regular-season games since February 2015, four of them because of a physical at COVID and another because of an illness.
