Blackhawks announced Kyle Davidson as general manager this year and he made it very clear that the organization is taking a strong rebuild approach to the structure of the team.
The Blackhawks started their rebuild with moving forward Brandon Hagel to the Tampa Bay Lighting for quite the haul. The second move they have made so far was moving fan favorite Marc-Andre Fleury to the Minnesota Wild, which did not make much sense to some- but it benefited Fleury as he is coming down on his very last few seasons in the NHL.
A rebuild is developed through youth and acquiring prospects, and the Blackhawks have signed two of their top scouted ones to entry level contracts this season.
Alex Vlasic being one of them, but the Blackhawks have healthy scratched him for many games. The games that he was in the lineup, he hardly got to see the ice.
Today, the Blackhawks announce that they will be calling up their number one prospect Lukas Reichel. At just 19 years of age Reichel has combined for 49 points in 49 games at the AHL level, including 21 goals which is highly impressive.
Reichel will join the Blackhawks and be in the lineup on Thursday against the Seattle Kraken.
