Bedard's lineage traces back to the Blackhawks.
Throughout the NHL's history, hockey families have upheld a tried and true tradition, as the pedigree of playing the game of hockey courses through family lines.
We have witnessed numerous families achieve tremendous success, including the Sutter brothers, the Staal brothers, and the Niedermayers.
There is also the possibility of great-grandfathers and grandfathers who played in the NHL, passing down that hockey gene to their descendants.
Recently, it was discovered that Connor Bedard, Chicago's beloved newcomer to the team, has a family history with the NHL organization that dates back to 1949 through 1951.
Connor's great-great-uncle, James Bedard, played with the organization for 22 games.
James Bedard was born on November 19th, 1927, in Admiral, Saskatchewan. He played in the defence position and stood at 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds. In his 22 NHL games, he scored one goal and one assist, totalling two points, and accrued eight penalty minutes.
While one would expect Connor to achieve much higher numbers than those, it is still quite remarkable to see the lineage stretch back that far to the same team that drafted him in 2023.
