The Chicago Blackhawks are heading into the 2022-23 season with little to no expectations. During the offseason the Hawks traded away not only Alex Debrincat, but Kirby Dach too. They also traded away Marc-Andre Fleury at last years deadline, and let Kevin Lankinen walk in free agency. On top of this, trade rumors surround long time Blackhawks stars Patrick Kane, and Jonathan Toews.
With that being said, the hawks are setting up for an abysmal season. So, how could the Blackhawks have a new rival? It won't be your typical rivalry of two good teams, but instead two of the worst teams in the league. (Yes, I said the Blackhawks will be one of the worst teams in the league this year). This new rivalry to the hawks will be the Arizona Coyotes.
For years, the Coyotes have been a team that the Blackhawks could get 2 points in the standings from every time they played. Now it'll be a competition for who can play the worst hockey and get the best odds for the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. You can thank Connor Bedard for the upcoming «tankathon». Bedard is one of the highest rated Prospects in a while and turns heads almost every time he plays. Some have gone as far as comparing him to Connor McDavid. If Bedard is the next McDavid, he would be a monstrous addition to the Hawks rebuild and could be the next franchise player for the Hawks after Kane and Toews.
