One thing Blackhawks fans noticed themselves which was quite huge, was lack of accountability from no other than the teams head coach, Derek King. King, would often at times speak about the Blackhawks team as ''they'', and not ''we'', that may not seem like a big deal, but when Derek King would say ''they had a brutal performance that game, and should be ashamed'', King is apart of that team and their actions as well. That was one of many times King through players and or his team under the bus, with no self-accountability.
Derek King was officially fired this off-season, Blackhawks fans had a positive response to his firing and were excited for a new coach to be named, until the Blackhawks announced Derek King will be returning to the franchise, which left fans with two questions, why? and what will King's role be?
Kyle Davidson and Luke Richardson met with the media this morning on Weds, September 16th to address multiple things, one including coaching roles.
''Luke Richardson said Kevin Dean will oversee penalty kill, Derek Plante will oversee power play and Derek King will help Richardson with 5-on-5 game prep. #Blackhawks''
It seems as if King is the assistant coach, which might change King's accountability issues as he may not have been prepared to take on the head coaching role last season.
