Blackhawks retiring head trainer receives an amazing gift!
Mike Gapski, The head athletic trainer of the Blackhawks has decided to retire from his job after an impressive 36 years of service. During his time with the Blackhawks, he managed to see many different stars come and go as the teams changed over time.
During the final game of this season, the Blackhawks organization decided to give Gapski a fantastic gift he will never forget.
His announced retirement was coupled with the news that the
Blackhawks were not resigning legendary captain Jonathan Toews to a new contract after this season ends.
Both men carried an emotional night as they watched the love of their beloved Blackhawks and the city's fanbase give them a proper sendoff and standing ovation.
What's also interesting, is that Luke Richardson who is the head coach of the Blackhawks had his first game in the NHL on the same night that Gapski had his.
Well done Sir, and enjoy the next chapter of your life.
