The Chicago Blackhawks currently have a 28-man training camp roster, which needs to be trimmed ASAP due to the Blackhawks opening night being days away, and the roster size limit being 23 players.
Kyle Davidson has stated he is NOT done making transactions if it is well fitting for the Blackhawks, and it seems as if the young general manager Davidson has finally made a trade that has a positive impact on the fan base.
The trade involves a Chicago Blackhawks defensemen, he may not be well known or involved much on the scoresheet, but throughout his season with the Blackhawks last year he developed many friendships with the Blackhawks.
The official report VIA Blackhawks reporter Charlie Roumeliotis:
''#Blackhawks have traded Riley Stillman to Vancouver for Jason Dickinson and a 2nd-round pick in 2024. ''
This is quite the interesting trade, Stillman is 24 years of age, a similar age to Alex DeBrincat when he was shipped to the Ottawa Senators. Kyle Davidson worked wonders on this deal, a second round pick as well as a depth forward in exchange for a defensemen, which will now give the Blackhawks future blue liners more ice time... and a second round pick! Stillman was drafted in the fourth round back in 2016, and has yet to prove himself at a high level of hockey.
Ben Pope, Blackhawks reporter, reported the following:
#Blackhawks now have two 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks in the 2023 and 2024 NHL Drafts.
''Dickinson scored 11 points in 62 games last year. His cap hit is $2.65M the next 2 seasons. Stillman's cap hit is $1.35M for the next 2 seasons, so I assume the cap savings is part of the motivation for the Canucks. But to get a 2nd out of this swap is impressive.''
