Having drafted two quality players, the team will have two rookies invited to a rookie showcase hosted by the NHLPA and Upper Deck Hockey.
Bedard will attend the rookie showcase in Arlington, Virginia, after BioSteel NHL camp.
The showcase will take place on September 5th, and he will also be joined by high-profile defenseman, Kevin Korchinski. Davidson is trying to figure out where Korchinski fits in the long-term plans for the team after a spectacular 70-point season.
Bedard and Korchinski, both 19 years old, were both signed to three-year entry-level contracts and cannot be sent down to the AHL.
It will be necessary to send Korchinski back to the Seattle Thunderbirds if he is to be sent down.
During the event, 35 prospects from 21 NHL teams will be present at the MedStar Complex to take promotional photographs and videos, including pictures for hockey cards.
Interestingly enough, the MedStar Capitals Iceplex sits on top of a parking garage on the eighth floor. In the United States, this is the highest ice rink above street level, or so they claim.
