Connor Bedard is expected to be a Calder Trophy Finalist
Last season, Matty Beniers won the Calder Cup Trophy for being the best rookie. This season, Connor Bedard is a strong contender for the award as he joins the Chicago Blackhawks.
Bedard had a remarkable season, scoring 143 points and performing well in the World Juniors. However, there are other rookie players who could challenge him for the trophy.
One such player is Luke Hughes, who played for the University of Michigan for two seasons before being drafted 4th overall in 2021 and signing his entry-level contract.
Hughes played 3 playoff games and 2 regular season games, replacing Ryan Graves during his injury for the Stanley Cup Playoffs,. He is known for his excellent skating and playmaking abilities, which could make him a strong contender for the Calder Trophy.
Logan Cooley from the Arizona Coyotes, Matthew Knies from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Adam Fantilli from the Columbus Blue Jackets are also honorable mentions for the Calder Trophy this season.
