Forward Pierre-Luc Dubois recently accepted his qualifying offer and signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets. This will make him a free agent at the end of next season. Last season he scored 28 goals and 32 assists in 81 games for the Jets. He has been linked to the Habs on and off in recent weeks. At one point, he was rumored to be headed to the draft in Montreal in hopes of being traded to the Canadiens during the event. His agent Pat Brisson also said Dubois would like to play for the Habs one day.

It was the first time this morning that Dubois spoke publicly after signing his contract. He mentioned that he thought the rumors were exaggerated and that his agent's comments were misinterpreted.

Regarding the rumor about his presence at the draft. He simply replied that he went to the event because he lives near the Bell Center.

During his press conference, Dubois remained nebulous about his future in Winnipeg. He mentioned that a one-year contract was best for him. He then said he is aware that his next contract will be long-term and could determine the rest of his career.

"It will be a big decision for me, I have to be sure", he said.
I am sure there is not even one Jets fan who was reassured by Dubois' comments this morning...
