GAME RECAP AND HIGHLIGHTS: Hawks Beat The Panthers and Extend Win Streak to Four Straight
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 at the UC on Tuesday night.
This was the 4th straight win for the Blackhawks as they move to 4-2-0 to begin the year.
This was an impressive win as they Blackhawks were aggressive, and relatively dominant, out of the gates.
Luke Richardson's coaching style is finally starting to catch the eye of the league as the Blackhawks are on of the most aggressive teams in the league.
The Panthers had just 5 shots on goal in the first period as the Blackhawks took a 2-0 lead into the locker room. Goals were scored by Raddysh and Kane in the 1st period.
The Blackhawks then scored from a beauty of a goal by Kurashev in the 2nd to help take them to a 3-0 lead heading to the 3rd.
The Panthers pulled within 1 in the 3rd period, but the Hawks were able to stand tough on D and come away with a 4-2 win following one of the more high effort empty net goals you will see from Toews.
What stood out most in this game? Well, it was the penalty kill. The Hawks' penalty kill was an astounding 6/6 on the night. Richardson's penalty kill is officially a threat to teams that take the ice against the Hawks. They have scored 4 shorthanded goals this season and constantly take away passing lanes during the penalty kill.
Players that stood out this game were the entire defense. The defensive side of the puck was great against a high-powered offense. Shot blocks, poke checks, taking away passing lanes, everything...it was all there tonight as the Panthers were scoreless for most of the game.
The Kurashev-Dickinson-Lafferty line also stood out AGAIN tonight as they have been read hot. They have proven to be a reliable back end line that is constantly getting the puck towards the net. It was also Dickinson's great effort to clear the puck to set up Toews' empty netter to seal the deal.
The Blackhawks at back at in on Thursday night, as they welcome the Edmonton Oilers to the UC.
