Gary Bettman at Risk of Losing His Job After Bogus Statement on Serious Issue
Allan Walsh is an opinionated player-agent and has come at Gary Bettman many times, for a lot of the same reasons the fans do.
From shoddy business deals and criticizing the hard salary cap the league imposes on teams are many subjects Walsh has taken aim at.
Today he let Bettman have it on another topic:
Gary Bettman cannot continue as NHL Commissioner. All the recent research confirms the link between repetitive blows to the head and #CTE. It's indisputable. The media has an obligation to call this out, GM's and players. This is an outrage! #CTEDenier
Here Walsh calls out Bettman for doing what he does, protecting the owners instead of the players. The links between Hockey and CTE have been established already before, but it is willful negligence that this narrative continues.
The NFL had to undergo a scandal to finally acknowledge the fact that playing football lead to long-term head injuries in CTE.
While I doubt Bettman will do anything useful to change the game that lessens concussions, they should still attempt to reduce the head impact where feasible, especially where it occurs often, on the boards.
There have been steps to lessen the gap to accountability but not enough.
