Get to Know Your Newest Chicago Blackhawk
Englund is a 27 year old defenseman from Sweden that has been unable to establish himself as a mainstay in a lineup. Englund has skated in 69 games in the NHL and has only managed 6 assists. He has also racked up a +/- -11 in those contests.
Englund is 6'3" 189 pound left handed defenseman that has some versatility. His contract only carries a $750,000 cap hit and expires at the end of the season. With Jake McCabe's future in question and the possiblity of more moves on the blue line if the right deal comes along, the Blackhawks can either play Englund in Rockford or have him rotate in and out as needed on the main roster.
Depending on how the Blackhawks prospects pan out this summer and how free agency begins to shape out, Englund could be a cheap option to fill out a spot on the roster next season if the Blackhawks like him. Do you think this was a good move?
