It is well known that Kyle Davidson, general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, traded awayAlex DeBrincat at the age of24.DeBrincat was just one of the good points of what had been overall, a poor season in the windy city, scoring 40 goals lastseason.

So why deal a player who scores 40 goals? DeBrincat, who made $6.4 million this pastseason as a restricted free agent, is in line for a lucrative contract worth $9 to $10 million per year. Davidson is also aware of the importance of DeBrincat's return in a trade to the Blackhawks' reconstruction. As a result of the Blackhawks apparently rejecting a deal during the off-season, it's one that will make Blackhawks fans shake their heads.

Why did Kyle Davidson wait until the last minute to make a trade??

On the under review podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said that a club approached Chicago in an effort to acquire DeBrincat. The deal included at least two first round picks, one of which was extremely costly, but Kyle Davidson and theChicago Blackhawks declined.

"I think there's one team that made a- I'm working on it today, a pretty big offer for DeBrincat, which if it's two included a couple-at least a couple of first rounders, one of them which would of been pretty high, and I heard Chicago wasn't willing to do that so, I'm very curious to see what it's going to take to get DeBrincat out of there." - Elliotte Friedman
