It Seems as if The Blackhawks Are Giving Up on This Defensemen
The Blackhawks blue line this season has seemed to be a never ending revolving door of players and line changes. Some injuries have hindered their plans, most notably Seth Jones. Ian Mitchell was finally given a chance to come back up and prove himself, but it appears that Luke Richardson has seen enough?
Mitchell has 3 assists in 11 games this season and carries a +/- -6 during that time. Mitchell is still only 23 years old, but he hasn't panned out the way the Blackhawks had hoped when he was drafted 57th overall in the 2017 draft.
While Mitchell hasn't been playing well in the NHL, he had played very well in Rockford the last two seasons. He was seeming to regain some of the confidence he had lost, but the clock is ticking for him to show he belongs in the NHL. It is time for the Blackhawks to made a decision; either let him play in the NHL or find a trade partner and give him a fresh start.
